Does anyone have tips on how to pipe buttercream filling?

I'm probably using poor web search keywords because all I'm finding are piping tips for the actual macarons. But I have a hard time figuring out how to pipe evenly and how much buttercream to pipe (i.e. how close to the edges before I stop). One side usually has way more than the other side or I pipe too little/much. I pipe at the 90deg angle to ensure it'd be even, but either I'm not actually at that angle or there's a better way to do it lol
